Clinical Psychologist

Dr Maya Lloyd (M Clin Psych, PhD, FCCP, MAPS) is a clinical psychologist with almost 20 years’ experience who enjoys working across the lifespan; with individuals of all ages.

Maya enjoys working with adults who have experienced a range of difficulties, to help them find happiness and a sense of contentment with their lives. Maya enjoys helping people find meaning from difficult circumstances and enjoys helping people find purpose and direction in life. Maya works with individuals experiencing a range of difficulties including depression and other mood disorders, anxiety, trauma related issues, grief and loss concerns, adjustment to difficult life circumstances, adjustment to relationship break-ups and dealing with unexpected life changes.

Prior to commencing in private practice, Maya was a senior clinician with Child and Youth Mental Health, Queensland Health for 10 years, where she worked with children, adolescents, parents and families with a range of presenting problems. Maya works with children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicidal ideation, parental separation and parent-child relationship problems.

Maya also has specialist skills in perinatal and infant mental health, supporting the relationship between a parent and baby. This includes treating parents with postnatal or antenatal depression and anxiety, along with providing parenting support and bonding/attachment between parents with infants and toddlers.

As an experienced family therapist Maya is accustomed to working with families at different stages of life.

Maya practices a range of therapies which are tailored to suit the individual, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Family Therapy, Circle of Security (an attached-based parenting approach) and therapeutic play. Maya is also an endorsed supervisor and is accredited to supervise clinical registrars and those completing postgraduate psychology qualifications.

Dr Maya Lloyd offers face-to-face appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.
