All practitioners at Sheridan Psychologists hold generalist skills, which means we can treat these different concerns across a range of ages. Individually, we each have special interest areas in addition to our generalist skills, to cover those more specific needs (to learn more, see ‘Our Psychologists‘).

As registered practitioners, we are all committed to our ongoing learning and professional development, practising evidence-based treatment models including:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
  • Interpersonal Therapy
  • Solution Focused Therapy

Sheridan Psychologists offers clinical psychologists who have all completed postgraduate qualifications in clinical psychology, and are all registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Our clinical psychologists have undertaken additional supervision and professional training to become endorsed in the practice area of clinical psychology, whilst our general psychologists are currently undertaking their registrar program to become similarly endorsed as clinical psychologists (to learn more, visit https://www.psychology.org.au/for-the-public/about-psychology).

To access the treatment services of our practitioners, you do not necessarily require a referral, as we can provide treatment on a private basis (private health insurance rebates may apply).

Alternatively, you may be eligible for Medicare’s Better Access initiative with a relevant referral from your GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician, who may prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan for you. The Better Access initiative allows a Medicare rebate for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year (to learn more, visit https://www.psychology.org.au/for-the-public/Medicare-rebates-psychological-services/Medicare-FAQs-for-the-public).
