Psychologists with general registration (over 60% of Australia’s psychologists) have a minimum of six years of university training and supervised experience and build on that with ongoing professional development, learning, and education.

Registered or ‘general’ psychologists are qualified mental health professionals who can provide counselling and therapy and work in any area of psychology within their scope of practice. Psychologists with general registration can work in a variety of settings and assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of clients and areas of concern.
